## What is Electricity?

For understanding the electricity, we have to understand the atom concept. Atom is the smallest part of any matter. Atoms makes the molecules. Many molecules makes the cell. Do you know how atom of matter becomes.

Atom becomes with protons, neutrons and electrons.

Both protons and neutrons are packed in atom but electrons moves its around.

Protons has positive charge.

Electrons has negative charge

Neutrons are neutral. Means no charge.

Electricity is the flow of these charges from one atom to other atom. This flow makes the electricity.

For this, we have to understand electrostatic force.

One electron push other electron and same electron goes to other atom and push to its electron and with this, there is flow of electrons and it makes electricity flow.

One of important thing, electricity needs a circuit for its flowing. Suppose, you have copper wire, in hand, it has not electricity because it is not connected with a circuit. If it is connected with circuit, it will have the electricity and if you will touch it, you will feel an electric show. So, never touch the copper wire which is connected with a circuit.

We can explain a simple diagram of an electric circuit. Suppose, we have an electric bulb. one side is positive charge and second side is negative charge. We connected it with a wire. When we connect with both side of small battery. Circuit has completed and electrons flows and complete the circuit. It is producing electricity but there is no use of electricity. It is wasting. Now connect the bulb with it and switch it the button . When we one the switch, circuit will complete and electric energy converted into light energy and bulb will on and when we switch off the button, bulb will off because circuit has broken and broken circuit, electron does not flow.

Now question is

## Electricity flow in any matter?

No, some material helps to flow electrons easily in its atoms and other does not.

## Now when electron will flow?

When its atoms are not tighten with each other.

When atoms are mobile, it is called conductors. Following are good conductors of electricity

1. Copper

2. Silver

3. Gold

If materials are not conductor, it is insulators. They have not conductivity.

Rubber and plastic are good examples of insulators which create barrier to the flow electricity.
