In previous lesson, we have taught the electricity is the rate of flow of electric charge.

Its formula is

= Net charge / Time

If more charge will flow in one unit time, it will show more electricity.

If we say electric current as I

Then I = Q / t

Q is net charge

and it is also called coulomb

t means t per unit

time is measure in in seconds

SI Unit of electric current

It is coulomb

Coulomb = 6.24 X 10 ^18 electrons

Charge of each electron

= 1/ 6.24 X 10^18 X C

SI Unit of current

I = Coulomb / Seconds

We have given a special name of this SI Unit of current

= Ampere

Its name came from andre marie ampere scientist of france.

1 A = 1 C / 1 S

If current is very less, then we we measure it in

mili ampere

1 m A = 10^-3 A

if more less electricity ,,

then measure in

micro ampere

1 u A = 10^ -6 A

With the help of Ammeter, we measure the electricity

For example,

there is supply of electric current in the circuit 300 mA for 7 minutes . Tell the Electric charge in the circuit flow

Here is given

Current flow or I = 300 mA

and t - 7 minute

I should have in A

We know 1 m A = 10^3 A

So, if we convert I  in A

then

1m A / 10^ 3 = A

put the value of mA

1 X 300  /10^3 =

A= 300/1000

A = 0.3 A

Time is = 7 minute

or

Seconds = 7 X 60 seconds

= 420 seconds

Electric current (I) = Q / t

Q = IX t

= 0.3 A X 360 s

= 3/10 X 360

= 108 c
